Paintings by Debbie Bell

Debbie-Bell-portrait“I come from an artistic family, surrounded by creativity from an early age.  After school Art College beckoned. I studied Theatre Design first, later to switch to Fine Art where my love of painting developed.  Moving to London I was introduced to the children’s book publishers Walker Books and became an illustrator for them and later for Heinemanns.

Leaving London I moved to the rural pleasures of the West Country. After a couple of years restoring rather rambling listed houses I now live very happily by the sea in Lyme Regis, and it is here that I started to paint again. The house is surrounded by wonderful sea and country views and it is only a short stroll through the garden to my timbered studio.

Inspiration for my work comes from many sources: texts of favourite poems to the vibrancy and magic of India. From the sea that surrounds me to my own garden and the cats that frequent it, all are embraced. I am constantly finding inspiration from all that surrounds me.”
