A Collection of Ceramics and Prints

An eclectic mix of Ceramics and Collagraph Prints by four contemporary and original artists.

An exhibition celebrating new work by these four exciting artists. A unique opportunity to view their work which features richly textured and detailed prints by Cath Bloomfield, ceramics by Linda Bristow who creates lively and unique pieces influenced by natural forms, Alison Potter’s figurative ceramics which depict her fascination with everyday lives, and Belinda Brownlee, who makes richly glazed domestic ware.

All four artists met as mature students whilst studying for a BA Honours degree at Bath Spa University in 2002.  They have since exhibited widely together and as individual artists.

Cath Bloomfield is a mark maker who is fascinated by texture.  Her inspiration is derived from nature and she takes inspiration from the changing colours and shapes in her local environment.  Her thoughts and ideas evolve during the making  process to create her unique prints.

Belinda Brownlee makes decorative functional pots concentrating on her surface decorating, she uses bold painterly marks. Over the past few years she has been commissioned to design several tile panels . The design for her most recent panel will  be on show during this exhibition.

Linda Bristow  works in  earthenware clay to create her unique collection of flower and tree sculptures and wall pieces. Her inspiration is taken from natural forms and she is especially drawn to meadows and wild areas. She decorates using slips, oxides and textures and sometimes uses a clear glaze.

Alison Potter creates figures which are inspired by the everyday lives of people.  Her unique pieces show a great sense of humour and sensitivity, are highly sought after and much of her works is commissioned.  She works in white earthenware clay and decorates using slips and glaze.
