Jools studied Graphic Design at Salisbury College of Art in the 80’s and embarked on years of travel which influenced her work from then on.
Jools paints coastal landscapes in a unique and distinctive style. She mostly uses acrylic and coloured pencil on board and works through layers of colour by scratching to reveal new colours beneath.
Her palette meanders through the seasons, being influenced by the ever changing landscape around her.
“My paintings reflect what I see around me, along with the imagined. Every day I see simple but stunning colour combinations in nature such as lichen on wood, a ploughed field in winter or a stormy sky. I love the cottages nestled in the rolling hills and fields of Devon and Dorset, the fishing boats in the harbour and the rich landscape of Lyme Bay.
All these things inspire me to paint.”
