My work represents everything we love about the West Country: afternoon teas; picnics on the beach and the objects that we find to take home with us.
I spent several years working as an Interior Designer and lecturing in Textiles and 3D Design in West Yorkshire.
Initially designing textiles for the Fashion Industry, I began to experiment with plaster and clay, combining the fragility of fabrics with the durable qualities of resistant materials exploring the nostalgia invested in well-loved garments.
Now, living deep in the Devon countryside, I am inspired by the rich textures of the landscape, hedgerows and coastal paths of Lyme Bay and the Jurassic Coast. Traditional Honiton Lace and ancient fossils feature in my work as well as seashells and random objects that I find along the way.
My finished work is in durable plaster with a limited number of low relief casts made from each piece. I also accept commissions for one off plaster reliefs which can incorporate treasured personal objects.
I hold regular Art and Design Workshops at my studio near Ottery St. Mary in East Devon. These include one day courses in Simple Printmaking, Casting with Clay and Plaster and workshops by various visiting artists. All abilities and experience are catered for.
