National Mills Weekend (promoted in Lyme as MillFest) is the annual celebration of Britain’s working watermills and windmills, and the Lyme Regis Town Mill is one of nine mills in Dorset that will be open. It’s also Real Bread Week (14-22 May).
So to mark both events, The Town Mill will be milling rye flour for the first time. Rye flour produces densely textured bread with a distinctive taste. We’ll be baking and sharing delicious rye goodies with visitors over the weekend.
Special family-oriented events are also planned based around the nursery rhyme ‘Sing a Song of Sixpence’. There will be live music sessions from the popular Natterjax duo, and both art galleries will join in the milling theme with the first MillFest Open (14-25 May).
