After a ‘lifetime’ of nursing, latterly as a practice nurse in a busy general practice in Winchester, Toni, with her husband and 2 rescue dogs, decided to move west in 2004 in search of a gentler and more artistically inspirational way of life.
Toni started sculpting in early 2013 after attending an inspirational course by internationally renowned sculptor Clare Trenchard. She studied the importance of anatomy, form, and movement of a life model, and learned to build an armature upon which to work a wax sculpture for final casting in bronze or bronze resin.
Having been a keen painter of sea and landscape for many years, the enjoyment of working in 3D, combined with her love of dogs, and observation of their behaviour, has resulted in a limited series of animated sculptures, capturing the spirit, movement and energy of our faithful friends.
As a member of Town Mill Arts in Lyme Regis, Toni exhibits regularly in The Courtyard and The Malthouse galleries in Lyme Regis, as well as many renowned local West Country galleries.
